Rabbi Eliezer Berland, who spend Pesach seder behind bars in a Johannesburg jail released a message to his followers. “I have been targeted by the State of Israel. The Government of Israel has a tendency to target rabbonim. I have been marked [by police] improperly”.
The Johannesburg court last week decided the rabbi would remain behind bars in the coming month during which time he will be turned over to Israel which has filed for his extradition. Chasidim of the Rbbi Berland are planning a protest outside the South African Embassy on Abba Hillel Street in Tel Aviv on Monday, the second day of Chol hamoed Pesach.
According to chassidim, buses from around Israel will be bringing followers to the embassy at 7:00AM.

I was happy to leave Mitzrayim to come to Eretz Yisroel. Rabbi Berland should be happy to leave South Africa to come to Eretz Yisroel. This is the moving season, come now.
people, like rabbonim, who have public trust should be very careful to keep themselves distant from any type of possible wrong doings.
Lock him up and throw away the key – it’s better than he deserves.
laptop: You forgot the period at the end of the sentence in your post.
It was written on chol hamoed
#4 – if one can believe what one reads, the conditions under which he is being held are a bit worse than that. He would be treated a lot better in the Israeli prison system.
Richard M you’re disgusting. What do you know about the situation that you think you have the right to say that?
And yes ywn does write yeshivishly hence the name YESHIVA world news
A more exact statement would be: The State of Israel fulfills its obligation to go after rapists, even when the rapists are rabbis (or politicians, or members of the media, or members of the academia, or other glitterati).
